OK so it is only pre-season and it is in Abu Dhabi but Somerset’s 2019 campaign is now officially underway.
On the day after The County Ground’s new floodlights lit up Taunton Somerset’s players produced a very bright perfromance of their own to beat Worcestershire by 132 runs.
George Bartlett top scored with 72 off 75 balls and Craig Overton and Tim Groenewald added 34 off the last 15 balls to see Somerset to 305-8.
In reply Worcestershire could only muster 173 all out with Jack Brooks on debut taking 3-22 and Josh Davey 3-32.
