Many years ago I thought it would be a good idea, at the end of the cricket season, to run a half-marathon. It went reasonably well and I decided to have a go at a triathlon and that went well too. But that was over 20 years ago.
There is little that can be written that hasn’t been in the last 24 hours about that game last night. I feel an overwhelming sense of privilege having been able to witness what will no doubt go down as one of the great European nights at Anfield.
Now the first game (and first win) of the season is in the books we have got something more tangible to go on when we consider what constitutes success for Somerset in 2018.
A Champions League semi-final berth has exceeded all our pre-season expectations. Hasn’t it?
