About Me

Born within earshot of the County Ground in Taunton, the son of a devoted fan of Somerset Cricket it was obvious that I was going to follow in my Dad’s footsteps.

My Dad and I were at Lords in 1979 when Somerset won their first every trophy. Without doubt a day a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life. University and then work took me away from Taunton but I have retained my love for my county team from afar.

Now living just outside Liverpool I have maintained my support for my team travelling all over the country to follow them over what has been an almost 50- year roller coaster ride. The advent of BBC commentary online and the recent live video through the clubs’ website have made this a much easier task.

I have just started writing for the Incider – an independent website for Somerset supporters.

My Dad was treasurer of Taunton Town in the 70s, which nicely filled the gaps between cricket seasons. We often went to see Exeter City and I have lived close to Bristol Rovers, Gillingham and Maidstone United but since my youth, Liverpool has always had an allure that I am now able to indulge at close quarters.

I started writing for The Anfield Wrap in February 2018 and made my podcast debut the following month.

I am also a keen baseball fan having followed the Boston Red Sox since Channel 4 covered the 1986 World Series. The Red Sox were at that time capable of losing in the most gut-wrenching manner a similarity to Somerset which is I think what drew me to follow them. I am lucky enough to have worked in and visited Boston a number of occasions (it was the first American city I visited) and seen many games at Fenway Park. Coincidentally Boston’s baseball team was once called the Boston Somersets!

My other passion is photography. I am in the process of creating a separate website for my photography which I hope to have live before the summer.
