That Man Hildreth Again

Royal London One Day Cup, South Group, Taunton, May 20th 2018, Somerset 372-7 (Hildreth 159) beat Glamorgan 289 by 83 runs

James Hildreth is in the form of his life. Following on from his monumental first innings last Saturday against Hampshire in the Championship he graced the Cooper Associates County Ground for 164 minutes to amass 159 white-ball runs.

Somerset’s No4’s innings included eight 6s and thirteen 4s over 125 balls around which his side built a formidable 372-7. Weekends in May in 2018 don’t get much better than this.

In reply Glamorgan reached 289 but in truth were never in the game. No one could play the supporting role that skipper Colin Ingram’s 85 required, although most got a start.

When Roleof bowled Ingram in the 36 over another 167 were needed with five wickets remaining. And with all due respect Glamorgan’s last five wickets are not the stuff of 11 and over run chases.

Two from two for Somerset at the start of the South Group will do very nicely thank you.
