I can’t believe this is Day 22 of this diary. I wondered when I started writing this what is write about on the off days. Well that hasn’t been a problem! But today while Alistair Cook is in the middle of his final innings for England we Somerset fans have two of our own who have made contribution to the country far in excess of England’s former captain and soon to be former opener.
That’s not to in anyway to diminish ”Chef’s” achievements but to emphasise what Marcus Trescothick and James Hildreth’s have done for Somerset.
The timing of the announcement that Tres has agreed another 1 year contract is the perfect tonic post the traumas of last week as we head into another pivotal week for the club. And it probably was a great birthday present for Hildy to know he has another year with Marcus in the dressing room.
I’m not even going begin to try to describe what this wonderfully loyal pair mean to us Somerset fans. Just say thank you #WeAreSomerset
